Sink Side Compost: In a open crock I keep my used coffee grounds and my used eggshells (microwave shells for 1 minute to eliminate bacteria). The grounds should dry, then during early spring I treat my acid loving plants... azaleas, rhododendrons, hydrangeas and evergreens... to a couple of handfuls around the base. Color in blooms will be more intense and blooms set for the following year more abundant. This also makes me feel good during the winter months of
inactivity in the garden.
